Consultation
Prior to surgery you have a personal meeting with a female consultant and the plastic surgeon. Together with the consultant you will discuss your wishes. With the use of the prosthesis you will get a clear picture of achievable results. Next, the surgeon discusses the whole medical procedure and your medical history with you and he also examines your breasts. It is very important to inform the plastic surgeon on your possible use of medication in the past or present.
In examining your breasts the plastic surgeon looks at the breasts in relation to the body, the shape, the symmetry (dissimilarity of shape and/or size) and the position of the breasts on the chest. The condition of the skin is also assessed; it could be flabby, firm, thick or thin. The choice of implants and their position depends on this. If the skin is thin the implants are placed behind the muscle because the skin must be sufficiently elastic to cover the implants completely. In close deliberation with you, all aspects must be examined carefully to come to right choice of implants and method of treatment.
Breast implants
Breast implants come in various shapes and types with either a round or tear drop shape. The tear drop shape of anatomical implants results in a more natural shape in some cases, but also round implants often result in a an aesthetically very attractive result. Contour Kliniek uses a variety of implants and informs the client on the brand and shape that is most likely to meet your wishes. We exclusively use the top brands with the best guarantees like the Mentor and Mcghan implants including the anatomic style 410 and 510 of the latter. The specific qualities of Mcghan’s tear drop shaped implants are the immense choice in shape, size and height and width. The anatomic as well as the tear drop shaped implants offered by Mcghan and Mentor are filled with a cohesive gel which gives the breast a natural sensation when touched. These implants can be cut into two without silicon leakage. The surface is roughened to prevent encapsulation problems which can cause painful hardened formation of scar tissue. Comprehensive scientific studies have shown the great reliability and safety of these implants. We give written life time guarantees on all implants concerning leakage. If you prefer an implant without silicones you can choose for the Monobloc or the physiological salt water (saline) based implants. The Monobloc implants are filled with a mix of saline and carboxy methylcellulose and feel very natural to the body. If a leakage were to occur the body will dispose of the cellulose in a natural way. Modern techniques enable us to examine the implants on any irregularities.
Surgery
Contour Kliniek performs a breast enlargement treatment in hospital under general anaesthetics. In general it is one day treatment. You are advised to get someone to accompany you home. Prior to surgery you meet the plastic surgeon to discuss the whole procedure once more. To prevent infections antibiotics are administered. During the operation a small incision is made in the fold of the breast and the implants are inserted. Next the incision is sutured, a drip and two drains are inserted to help excess wound fluids and blood to exit the body. A pressure bandage combined with the drains reduces the chances of a post-bleeding to a minimum. In general the operation takes about 1.5 hours. The sutures are removed in our clinic two weeks after surgery. A final check up is done after three months.
