An ear correction can be preformed from the age of 4 years.
What should I take into account after the treatment?
Despite having an ear correction performed under local anesthesia, you should keep in mind that you have to take rest the first few days. Also, the first 3 to 4 weeks you are not allowed to do any form of sports.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment will take about one hour.
Is the treatment painfull?
During surgery you can feel a slight pressure but no pain. After the treatment you can feel a light pain caused by the slight swelling, for which you can use a painkiller such as paracetamol.
What will I look like after the treatment?
The first 2 to 3 days after the treatmnent you will wear an elastic bandage 24 hours a day. After the first 2 to 3 days you will wear the bandage only at night. During this period you are not presentable. The treated area may be swollen and may show a bruise. The swelling needs several weeks to disappear.
When will I be fully recovered?
After 12 months the recovery is completed. After 1 month the new position of the ears are visible.
Will I have scars after the treatment?
The scars are behind the ear and are barely visible. During the first months the scars are quite fiery. After 6 to 10 months they will adopt the color of the skin.
Are there alternative treatments?
There are no alternative treatments to correct protruding ears.
