Consultation

Prior to the operation you will have a personal meeting with the consultant and/or the physician. During this meeting the physician determines whether your complaints can be treated by blepharoplasty. You are informed on the surgical possibilities, proceedings for this and on our pre- and post operative care policy.

Surgery

An eyelid correction takes an hour on average and is performed under a local anaesthetic. If you would like a sedative we will provide you with one prior to treatment. Pictures of the upper and/or lower lids are taken prior to treatment and the targeted area is anaesthetised.

Correction of the upper eyelid

In correcting the upper eyelids excess skin and, if present, excess fatty tissue is removed. The small scars are located in the natural fold of the upper eyelid. The tiny wounds are sutured and covered with small band-aids. These band-aids must remain dry.

Correction of the lower eyelid

In correcting the lower eyelids a small incision is made a long side the lower eyelashes. Any excess skin and fatty tissue is removed and the wound is sutured with a tiny thread. The small scars are located just under the lower eyelashes. Small band-aids cover the wounds. These band-aids must remain dry. Sutures are removed a week after the operation whether you had a correction of either the upper or lower eyelids. A check up takes place three months after treatment.
