How do I qualify for a MACS-lift or a jaw lift?
A jaw lift is used where only the lower half of the face needs a correction. In other cases, a MACS-lift should be performed.
What\'s the difference between a face lift, a MACS-lift and a jaw lift?
In a traditional face lift an incision is made from the hairline above the ears through the natural crease in front and behind the ear to the back. At the jaw line lift the incision is shorter than the traditional face lift. It starts just above the ear into the hairline, go past the ear and ends at the earlobe. In a MACS lift you get a cut in front of the ear to 2 cm above the ear and the tissue using sutures and the skin pulled tighter.
How long will the treatment take?
Depending on the type and size of the treatment it lasts between an hour and a few hours.
What kind of aneasthesia will be used?
The MACS lift is performed under general anesthesia. The jaw lift is performed under local anesthesia.
What will I look like after the treatment?
Initially, your face is not very presentable. Your face will be swollen and sometimes bruised. The swelling and bruising may ensure that in the beginning the symmetry between your left and right part of the face could be distorted. Normally, any bruising disappears after about ten days. Healing the swelling will take several weeks.
Can I smoke before and after the treatment?
Smoking has a very negative impact on the skin, which is bad for a good recovery. People who continue to smoke have more risk of complications and will get less beautiful scars. Smoking should be reduced to a minimum 2 weeks before and after surgery. No smoking would be the best for a good recovery and for the result.
What should I do for a quick recovery after surgery?

What will the scars look like?
The scars will be under your hairline and in natural skin fold at the ear and are barely visible. In the first months, the scars are quite fiery, but they gradually will get the color of the skin. The full recovery takes twelve months.
For how long will I enjoy the result?
On average five to fifteen years. This partly depends on the speed of the aging process continuing after the surgery. This is influenced bij genetic factors, but also by too much sun exposure and smoking and drinking.
Are there risks?
Like any operation, this surgery also brings risks. Generally there is always a risk for infection or poor wound healing. With an extensive face lift, there is also a very small risk of damage to a facial nerve and temporary hair loss.
