The surgeon will explain each step of the procedure and you will be assisted by our OK assistant. If needed we will give you something to relax before the treatment. Then your face is washed with a disinfecting fluid and the nurse will drape sterile blanckets around the area that will be treated. The local anesthesia given with a subcutaneous injection with a very fine needle. You will feel a light burning sensation, but that disappears almost immediately. The anesthesia will guarantee a totally painless procedure. For a relaxing atmosphere during treatment, we run into your favorite soft music in the background.

Then comes the actual lifting. The skin will be released to the naso-labial line and jaw line through a hole in the crease of the ear. Once the skin is free, the excess skin is removed and after control of bleeding the skin will be closed with stitches. The procedure ends with a cleansing the face and applying an elastic bandage. Later, you can be taken home.

At home, you have to take total rest. The first days you have to sleep in half sitting position. Lying flat or bending over will increase the swelling of the face. Swelling and bruises can be controlled to a minimum by cooling. It will be painfull to open your mouth wide but that nagging feeling quickly disappears during the first weeks.
After surgery you will wear a bandage which you should wear three days continuously and then 2 weeks at night. You can shower or wash your hair 24 hours after the treatment. After 2 weeks the stitches are removed.

Serious complications are infrequent. There is a small risks for bleeding which can only appear the first hours after the MACS-lift is preformed. If this happens it may be necessary to reopen the skin under local anesthesia to stop the bleeding. After the treatment the face will be bruised. These bruises will disapear within two weeks. Infections are very rare. If this occurs and if necessary you will be treated with antibiotics. Smoking will slow down the recovery and healing of the skin.

Much will depend on your looks and condition of the skin before surgery. The one client the results are quite spectacular, another the result will be more subtle. This may also depend on your requirements you have talked about with the surgeon in advance of the surgery. The signs of aging will be less conspicuous and often gone. In a modern facelift the skin is tightend which brings back the youthful contours of the face with natural looks.

You should realize that no plastic surgery procedure can stop time. Surgery can manage to reverse the clock a few years. The durability of the result also depends on your lifestyle and genes. But most clients enjoy the result of their facelift for many years.
